Hawaii Five-0 is an American activity law procedural television set series that centers around a special police major crimes job force operating at the behest of the governor of Hawaii. It is a reboot of the 1968–1980 series Hawaii Five-O (the original series had the letter of the alphabet "O" instead of the number "0" in its title), which also aired on CBS. On July 21, 2017, it was announced that recurring cast members Taylor Wily, Kimee Balmilero, and Dennis Chun would too exist upped to series regulars for the eighth season.[74]
On March nineteen, 2018, it was appear that Borth would once again return to the serial in a invitee role for the twentieth episode of the series' eighth flavor.[75]

Hawaii V-0 uses the original show'due south theme song equanimous by Morton Stevens. Critics received an early copy of the airplane pilot with a synthesizer and guitar-based version of the theme. Hawaii V-0: Original Songs from the Idiot box Series is a soundtrack album featuring music used in the CBS television set series Hawaii 5-0. The beginning volume in the series received attention for how show producers integrated these new and previously unreleased tracks from major-name artists into the second-season episodes. This method contrasted with the norm for TV soundtracks, which tend to exist compilations of previously released music that is already available individually or on other albums. McGarrett'due south machine [edit]
The automobile driven by the original Steve McGarrett in Hawaii Five-O is a 1974 Mercury Marquis. The machine has belonged to stuntman John Nordlum since the original serial ended. Nordlum has let the motorcar be used in the new series, where it is said to have belonged to Steve McGarrett'due south male parent John. The license plate is even so F6-3958.[81]

The series premiered in the U.s.a. on CBS on September 20, 2010, exactly 42 years after the premiere of the original series. Canada's Global TV and NTV premiered the show at the same time as the Us premiere.[82] Hawaii Five-0 has been syndicated for broadcast in several countries worldwide, including Australia,[83] the Britain,[84] and Southward Africa.[85]

Originally, TNT acquired the off-network rights to air the series and began airing epidodes on the cablevision channel in August 2014.[86] Ion Tv set has since acquired the off-network rights to the series; episodes began ambulation in Jan 2021.

Critical reception [edit]
The show has received mostly positive reviews. Metacritic gave season one of the bear witness a 66 out of 100 aggregate score based on reviews from 29 critics.[38] Rotten Tomatoes gave season one a score of 74% based on 23 reviews. The site's consensus calls it: "A brisk, slick reboot of an old favorite, Hawaii Five-0's picturesque locales and attractive cast make for pleasurable viewing."[108]
On May 19, 2010, The Honolulu Advertiser offered an opinion about the new version: "A smart script, slick product values and maybe a splash of nostalgia got the remake of Hawaii 5-O placed on the CBS prime number-time lineup this fall," but went on to add, "information technology takes more than a brand name to capture viewers' attending." The slice also pointed out that times accept inverse since the original left the air, citing other shows that were set in Hawaii which have come and gone. Information technology expressed a promise that the producers will succeed in bringing a new life to the title with this remake.[109] Hawaii Five-0 was as well in the Guinness World Records 2012 for Highest-Rated New Bear witness in the U.S. with a record 19.34 1000000 viewers for its January 23, 2011 episode (Kai e'e).[110]

Effect on Hawaii'due south economy [edit]
The popularity of Hawaii 5-0 resulted in a positive effect on several local businesses that saw an increase in sales afterwards they were featured in particular episodes. Visitors to the USS Missouri Memorial Association increased 25 percent in 2010, a record year. Waiola Shave Ice, the business run past Kamekona on the show, saw a 20 percent increase in shave water ice sales, along with a 30 percent ascension in overall sales. Kona Brewing Company also saw a sixty percent increment in sales after their beers were featured as McGarrett's favored alcoholic beverage in several episodes. The tourist economic system was also impacted, as many Mainlander fans were afterward inspired to visit the islands after viewing the serial.[142]
